ROLE

Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer, the Head of Marketing is a key leadership position at Block and will be responsible for leading the vision around how we bring new homeowners into the sales funnel. Owning all things marketing, the role will be a key player in determining how we frame the product offering to the customer and how we target our efforts to achieve a low CAC while maintaining high lead volume. 

The ideal candidate has experience building strategy across a variety of marketing channels and understands how to balance performance marketing with other high touch channels to target a niche audience as efficiently as possible. This is a hands-on role with a high level of autonomy for the leader to build the team needed to scale Block across multiple markets as the business continues to expand its operations nationally.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performance Marketing: Work with our Growth Marketing Manager to further refine our performance marketing strategy to decrease CAC by increasing the number of high quality/intent leads reaching the sales team.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Work with our Lifecycle Marketing Manager to develop a long term strategy for lead nurturing and customer reactivation given the long LTV of each homeowner, decreasing the need to re-acquire customers every 5-10 years.
  • Content/SEO: Build a scalable content and SEO strategy to quickly increase Block’s digital brand presence and search relevance.
  • Public Relations: Stand up a public relations strategy/team to increase Block’s earned media presence.
  • Brand: Work closely with Head of Creative to execute a brand strategy that sells the quality of Block’s product offering while clearly articulately our value proposition to the homeowner.
  • Event Marketing: Build an event marketing strategy for how Block can better engage with homeowners in their buildings and at events where they are showing high intent for needing a renovation.
  • Management: Actively manage a team of talented marketing professionals and build a strategy for an employee/agency model that will allow Block to scale its marketing efforts while maintaining high operating efficiency on the team.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years experience in growth marketing with at least 6 years managing teams
  • Expertise in customer segmentation, micro targeting, and pitching high AOV products to a niche consumer base. 
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with an ability to test, build and scale growth marketing strategies from scratch in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to drive decision-making through data
  • Demonstrated track record developing marketing plans/budgets, managing CAC, and efficiently deploying capital to achieve business objectives
  • Proven experience building teams with a passion for providing mentorship and coaching
  • Phenomenal teammate with ability to establish relationships with senior decision-makers and collaborate cross-functionally with sale, operations, and product teams.
  • Strong eye for design and content quality.
  • Experience in marketplace business, real estate and/or high AOV products
