Opportunity

Thoughtful is looking for a sharp, motivated, and relentless Director of Marketing to lead our freshly minted growth marketing team. This team is building the very first experiences new customers will have with our brand and products. Your charter will be to identify, craft, and execute strategies that engage and convert prospects into curious users, and then into loyal customers. You’ll be armed with any tools needed, a small but mighty team, and a budget to achieve our lofty customer acquisition targets.

This experienced leader will build, implement, measure, and optimize integrated cross-functional campaigns that generate relevant, sales-ready leads which can be nurtured into qualified opportunities. This director will own the strategy and execution of all demand generation, content creation, PR, paid media, and event marketing initiatives. They’ll own all aspects of our growth engine, including our marketing site, outbound email automation, content and conversion loops, new freemium products, demand creation, digital ads, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Define growth marketing strategies that consistently generate qualified leads from inbound sources
  • Own and maintain our marketing qualified leads targets
  • Define the strategies and experimentation roadmap to unlock growth channels that deliver business outcomes
  • Execute against strategies and provide detailed reporting on experiment outcomes
  • Set the pace, prioritization, and execution for the growth marketing team
  • Define and own all growth-related KPIs
  • Deeply understand our ICP and buyer motivations by spending time with prospects, customers, sales, and ops teams to learn patterns/trends across the buying landscape
  • Collaborate closely with go-to-market, product, and ops teams to build and test demand generation products
  • Help us realize our vision of creating a best-in-class content production studio. This may require hiring additional team members and managing freelancers to hit velocity and quality targets.

You Have

  • 7+ years of experience building a marketing and growth-related function
  • Have an experimentation mindset, strong data chops, and experience creating executive and fine-grained level reporting
  • Deep understanding of content creation, conversion funnels, and marketing channels
  • An obsession with achieving growth goals, no experiment or test left behind
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a talent for precise articulations of hypotheses and outcomes
  • Ruthless prioritization skills
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and determination to do whatever it takes to achieve your mission

Bonus Points

  • You have marketing or growth experience at a hyper-growth SaaS company
  • You’ve built a marketing function that sells into the mid-market
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across the organization; strong technical and leadership skills, experience building and fostering strong working relationships
  • Experience influencing without direct authority at senior levels of internal and external organizations; strong people and negotiation skills
  • Business acumen; ability to assess problems and implement suitable solutions keeping technology and customers in perspective
