Primer is building a marketingOS for b2b companies. Every B2B company wants to build a world class growth marketing machine, but few companies have the internal resources to stitch together the parts on their own. Primer empowers companies to build their go-to-market much faster without having to engineer an expensive system.

Our product lets users join together disparate datasets, connect siloed marketing and sales SaaS tools, and construct automated “playbooks” for customer acquisition.

We've been operating for only a little over a year but we’re already working with the fastest growing b2b brands (Rippling, Verkada, Ironclad, Brex, etc.). After quickly bootstrapping our way to almost $1M in revenue in our first year, Craft Ventures swooped in and led our seed. We’re also backed by the founders and early team members of Carta, Okta, Figma, Masterclass, Segment, Pilot.com, People.AI, Skyhigh, and others.

What we need:

Be the founder of the Product Marketing team. We’re looking for a world class product marketing leader who wants to make a splash by championing and sharing Primer’s product. Excited by the challenge of crafting a movement and changing people’s perceptions about how marketing should be done? Interested in crafting and telling a story from the ground up? Want to expand the definition of product marketing, go beyond traditional product marketing and take on the challenge of building a community? Then you’re the person we want.

This job should speak to you. You’re a marketer trying to help other marketers be better. We’re offering a unique opportunity to experience being both the product marketer and the target customer. As marketers marketing to other marketers, you’ll truly understand our customers and be able to advocate for their needs as well as communicate about Primer’s product and solutions in ways that create real value.

What you’ll do:

  • You'll develop a deep understanding of how our target audience evaluates and adopts products
  • You'll create and maintain high level messaging that differentiates and humanizes our products
  • You’ll create an editorial and content strategy including communications materials (blog posts, emails, pitches, media lists, messaging docs, statements, briefs, and more)
  • A primary task will be to build a community and increase user engagement in the community
  • You will moderate content and work with copywriters, bloggers, and influencers in the space to increase our awareness.
  • You will manage discussions in different social media & community platforms. (Meme skills are a big plus :P )
  • You'll develop and execute multi-channel launch plans for new features that drive product adoption
  • You'll work as a part of a cross-functional team to help quickly bring meaningful new features to market and measure their impact
  • You'll collect, analyze, and share learnings from ongoing surveys, interviews, and product analytics
  • You’ll be an expert on Primer’s competitors and the broader trends happening in B2B marketing/growth.
  • You'll be scrappy because we're an early-stage startup

  • You are a team player. Every member of our team is held accountable for the success of the platform. It's crucial that every team member works together to make Primer a success.
  • You have conviction in your ideas. If you feel strongly about something, you don’t shy away from expressing your opinion to the team.
  • You demonstrate resilience, because our journey will have its fair share of challenges to overcome. We’re looking for people that love a challenge, always see the glass as half full, and want to create opportunities to provide a better customer experience

Skills & Profile:

  • You have 2+ years of experience in a product marketing role for B2B products
  • Background in writing (e.g. former copywriter) and excellent written communication skills.
  • You have exceptional product positioning, messaging and storytelling skills
  • Excellent cross-organizational collaboration skills. You can work across the team, across roles, and synthesize viewpoints and reach consensus.
  • You’ve written some engaging ad copy a time or two
  • You are experienced with marketing & sales automation (hubspot, outreach, etc.)
  • You are curious, customer-focused and data-driven
  • You work well independently and remotely.

What’s the interview process like?

We’ll likely do a quick 30-minute phone call just to make sure we’re on the same page. After that, the interview is a 2-3 step process:

  1. A deep dive into your previous work experience (60m) and a quick writing exercise with our CEO Keith
  2. 1-2 case study presentations of previous projects you’ve worked on (1hr) and 2 references.
  3. Conversations with our Head of Sales and our CTO (30 min each)

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary

$100 - 120K salary and .10-.20% equity.
